Summary/Abstract: The plundering of the school buildings during the revolution, as well as the desperate situation of the teachers, who hadn't been payed for a long time, generated an extremely difficult situation for the schools in Blaj. The classes started again only on January 2nd 1851. The lack of schoolbooks and the material difficulties perpetuated for further 2-3 years, until the modernization of the education system brought the first signs of improvement.
