Summary/Abstract: Georgia since the ancient period, absorbed a variety of ethnos and confession in which the Jewish diaspora plays the important role. The compact settlement of Jews in Ajara, begins after 1878 then, here basically, communities Ashkenaz and the Georgian Jews were generated. On confirmed in Ajara Jewish surnames, it is visible to statistical data, that ashkenaz Jews obviously surpassed the Georgian Jews. Noted specificity is one of features of the Jewish diaspora in Ajara. In Georgia such balance Georgian and ashkenaz Jews do not meet almost. Among ashkenaz Jews, the basic spoken language was Russian, and among the Georgian Jews – Georgian. Jews, during settlement in Ajara, have brought with themselves a traditional life, characteristic for their former place of residing. A variety of local features of culture, noticeably, as among Georgian, and ashkenaz Jews. In formation of cultural shape of the Jewish community, a special role has played Judaism though in conditions of long joint residing with the Georgian ethnos, the Jewish diaspora has mastered not one non-conventional element, characteristic for the Georgian culture. The noted fact is mainly about the Georgian Jews, as among ashkenaz Jews is more noticeably felt an European influence.
