Summary/Abstract: Summary The proposed research present one of the most popular phenomena in the youth culture in the beginning of the 1990s of the past century – lexicons. We could precisely arrange all parts of both the public and intimate world of a whole generation through them. It is generation, who had grown up insufficiently to take part in the biggest changes which took place in Europe in the end of the 20th century, but was mature enough to participate in constructing the modern Balkan democracies in the beginning of the 21st century. I will try to outline in a comparative scheme the culture of writing lexicons in two Balkan countries – Bulgaria and Croatia. The analysis is based on two main aspects: 1/ general, in the context of cultural studies and 2/ structural and linguistic analysis of the presented corpus – researching the youth’s slang of this period, the method of arranging and the layout of the pages, and the correlation text – picture/ drawing – collage. I will try to draw some conclusions about the biggest metaphors and plans for the future of this generation.
