DEMONSTRATIVES FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF LINGUISTIC PRAGMATICS

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with demonstratives from the viewpoint of linguistic pragmatics. shows their position within deictics and their specific features related to communicative intentions of a  speaker – in most utterances the reference of a  demonstrative depends on speaker´s  decision. In case of so-called complex demonstratives the reference is given by a  demonstrative expression, not by a  nominal one.
