Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on 16 letters found in The Public Record Office that were written by Samuel Linde, rector of Warsaw Grammar School (Liceum Warszawskie) to Stanisław Kostka Potocki, the Minister of the Government Committee on Religion and Public Enlightenment. The letters concerned the issue of three pupils who were involved in unclear from today’s point of view political underground activity and because of that kept in a school’s jail. That is why Linde’s correspondence has a feature of denunciation. It is also richly and diversely related to the context of socio-political situation of the Kingdom of Poland between 1819–1920. The author analysed this correspondence in genealogical aspect, based on wide linguistic and literary research. She also described Linde’s letters taking into consideration moods and behaviors of Warsaw pupils and students in accordance with the important historical and social facts of that time.
