Manifestations of satirical strategies in Wiadomosci Brukowe. Presentation of an issue and sample analysis

Summary/Abstract: The following article consists of two parts. In the first one, the author makes an attempt to organize the subject referring to Polish theory of literature and literary awareness, since satire is a vast and rising terminological controversies category. He comes to a conclusion that analysis of satirical text should focus on two main aspects: attitude of satire’s author towards the subject and the literary devices, that he uses to present it. Satire demands one necessary condition to be fulfilled — author must have an intention to degrade or at least ridicule described issue or person. Such intention may take form of different literary techniques, from the vast range to mention the most important ones: comedy (in a sense of any humorous discourse), irony, parody.
