THE IMPORTANCE OF BUSINESS INCUBATORS IN THE WORLD AND IN SLOVAKIA

Summary/Abstract: Business incubators are an important part of support infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses in the world. Their role is to create a favourable environment for setting up innovative businesses by helping them make first steps, which are considered the most difficult in business. Business incubators are institutions that support young and starting businesses in the world of business. The aim of our paper is to point to the status, functioning and financing of business incubators worldwide and in the Slovak Republic. We characterize the activities of business incubators, the amount of finance and a selected business incubator and a technological centre. At the end, we highlight the importance of business incubators for different social and economic spheres of life.
