Summary/Abstract: Stereotypes and prejudices exist in all parts of the world and in all societies. We live in a world of prejudices, which most often are the source of our intolerances, hatred, and animosity towards the people around us. People adopt most stereotypes only too readily, without detailed analysis and insight into the reality of a nation, ethnic group and the group of people living in a certain area. This paper has researched the presence of stereotypes and prejudices about Herzegovinians in Croatia. The paper is founded on the research carried out on an occasional sample. The aim of the research was to examine whether stereotypes and prejudices about Herzegovinians exist today, too. The research was first of all directed to the construction of prejudices and stereotypes, rather than to their impact. However, considering that the process of the creation of prejudices, especially of stereotypes, their impact on the society, and of a renewed media creation of stereotypes on the basis of the values of that society, is a closed process, this element cannot be completely neglected either.
