Summary/Abstract: Cross-border organized crime is a global threat, still evolving, which has acquired the ability to influence states’ policy and democratic institutions activity. The borders no longer represent an obstacle but rather an environment difficult to control for the law enforcement agencies. Individuals and groups of people may be involved in human trafficking, illegal migration, trafficking of prohibited substances or excisable goods, and not least to participate in terrorism acts. Following the EU accession, Romania will become in the near future, mainly from a transit country into a destination one for migrants from different parts of the world.
