Mergers & Acquisitions and companies innovation performance in the ICT sector

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes an association between Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity of firms and their subsequent innovation performance. The aim of the paper is to present a significant role of mergers and acquisitions as an important element of improving technological innovation capacity of the ICT sector companies. Strategic choice of parties of the transaction , technological relatedness and effectively carried out integration process of the combined units is likely to provide positive results in the form of intensified research and development activities. The analysis allows to conclude that by combining the potential of innovative ICT companies, it is possible to improve an innovation output measured by the number and quality of the innovations and the number of patents.
