Summary/Abstract: Tourism is an important economic activity in most countries worldwide. The economic importance of tourism can be measured in various ways. Tourists contribute to sales growth, profit, increase jobs, tax revenue, the economic development of the tourist area. The literature highlights the role of tourism in creating jobs. Tourism is an industry that involves intensive labor, having the capacity to provide more job opportunities than any other sector, both directly and indirectly. At the same time, human resources employed in tourism have an important role in developing the tourism industry by attracting and retaining customers, creating a pleasant environment for tourists, awakening and maintaining the interest of tourists for some tourist destinations, establishing positive and long term relations with tourists determining their return, providing quality services in line with customer expectations, etc. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the two-way relationship between tourism and employment, how these two variables influence each other.
