Summary/Abstract: This paper is intended as an attempt at an experimental insight into the issue of various types of utterances as speech genres. Its sources should be sought in a carefree and hence extremely unfavorable – in terms of linguistics – abuse of the term "speech genre" (using it without a definition or a clear reference to the original definition proposed by M. Bachtin, enigmatic, often covert attempts at redefinition). The title question is largely a question of reference limits of the notion. Since a description of almost each and every linguistic act has been possible in the categories of a speech genre for the past ten-odd years, can such speaking that escapes this approach be identified? Certainly, the discussed rubbish cannot be described in such a manner. Arguments in support of this decision constitute a considerable part of this text. However, the part concerning the title reflections on how utterances are described as speech genres, how it should not be done and what can be expected of such descriptions is equally important.
