Summary/Abstract: Although pedagogy has recently separated from philosophy and become an independent discipline, it still exists in the close relationship with philosophy. That connection is especially shown in the fact that the basic pedagogic categories are possible only in the context of the value regulations and an area of the value is the subject of philosophy. Pedagogy, alike as philosophy, can get away neither from value judgments nor from discussions about what is valuable and what is not. Modern pedagogues and education philosophers are mostly agreed that the purpose of education is to make possible the carrying to the new generations everything that contributes to the full realization of a human being. It is a matter of spiritual and material assets in which the values are realized through the human value acts. Those assets make something that is called culture, and is different from nature determined by laws in which the values are not valid. Education must want the values permanently, otherwise it will not fulfill its basic function. It should not be restricted to the cultivation of just some special, separate value, than it has to be directed to the values in general. Such relation enables the holistic approach to a person who is being educated and it includes intellectual, moral, aesthetic and every other aspect of education. Only there, where such approach is present, the educational activity comes to the fullness of its sense as a true mean of humanization.
