Summary/Abstract: Established in 1892 the “Elinismos” society is a legal nationalistic organization, operating with the approval of the Greek state institutions and financed by the wealthy Greek Diaspore. Its appearance is connected with the crisis in Greek society during the first half of the 1890s, Greek’s miscarriage of Balkan politics, and the enforcement of conservatism and romanticism in the spiritual life in the Kingdom. Propaganda is one of the characteristics of the “Elinismos” society and it is seen in the publications in the journal of the same name. The basic ideas the society has are to prove the exceptionality of the Greek nation, its excellence and its historical predetermination to become dominant factor not only on the Balkans but in Asia Minor as well. Helped by the publications in the “journal Elinismos” the propaganda anti- Bulgarism and xenophobia become a part of the ultimate Greek nationalism.
