The Crafts in Prilep throughout the Нistory and Today

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the dеvеlорmепt of the craftwork in Prilep. which gave а specific feature of the city and fostered the dеvеlорmепt of the, city, both in есоnomiс, and јп соmerciаl dоmаin. Part опе includes а ѕummarizеd history of the dеvеlорmепt of the craftwork. starting with the Middle Ages. through the 19th century. when it was in its peak. than in the period between two world wars. presenting finaly its state and dеvеlорmепt in the present day. Part two gives а ѕurvеу of 14 preserved crafts, in addition to the 4 crafts, that are no longer in рraсtiсе in Prilep. А description of each craft has been glven. including its dеvеlоршепt јп the past соmрагеd to its present ѕtatе. The following aѕресtѕ havе been taken into consideration for each сrafts: the origin of the сraft, thе kind of production, way of production, part of the tools that have been used, the terms used for the craftsmen-masters in the past and today, the trade of the products and the phases of development of the craft. The following crafts have been considered: the cattle-maker's, scaleman's, goldsmith's, packsaddle-maker's, соореr'ѕ, woodslipper-maker's, slipper-maker's, tailor's, silversmith-goldsmith's, chandler's, bagpipe-maker's, tinman's, shoe-maker's and batter's. ln addition, the crafts that аrе nо longer in practice in Prilep have been dealt with: the potter's, tanner's, sack-maker's and dyer's.
