Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on the issue of etymology of archaic Slavonic hydronyms, derived from the bases *sъ-jьm-, *mol-, *pel-, *Ọk-, *pьstl-. The Croatian hydronym Zaym pataka is, according to the author, connected with Ukrainian dialectal соймú ‚river confluence‘, resulting from the Ur-Slavic *sъjьmъ. The hydronym Molvice has been so far referred to as unclear. The author assumes the Ur-Slavic basis *molъ/*mo-la; cf. Slovene dialectal mol ‚river sand‘. The Russian hydronym Полга is connected with Indoeuropean *pel ‚pour, saturate‘. Byelorussian lake name Укое is interpereted as derived from Indoeuropean *ank- ‚crooked‘. The Ukrainian hydronym Псёл is, according to the author, connected with Ur-Slavonic *pьstlъ ‚varied, vari-coloured‘.
