Summary/Abstract: In World War I and II, the oil fields of Ploiesti was concerned both by the Allies, and Hitler's Germany. Romanian oil was one of the most important resources for the German war machine, and the Ploiesti refineries became an important part in the sabotage plans of the Allies. Before the beginning of the World War II, Romania occupied number 5 in the hierarchy of oil producers, after the US, USSR, Netherlands, East Indies and Canada, way ahead of France, Germany, England and Japan.
