Summary/Abstract: In this paper I am following the hypothesis that Husserl's concept of life-world is founded on a paradoxical relationship between subject and world. Building on the analysis of this paradox, I evaluate the cognitive and linguistic potential of life-world concept. I argue that the phenomenological terms of stream and consciousness are expressing the poles of the paradoxical relationship. This formulation also leads us into an interpretation of life-world as a never-ending interplay between subject I s singularity and world I totality.
