Summary/Abstract: “In Romania, there is a frequent misconception among students, new graduates and especially among parents, namely that one's job must strictly follow the lines of one's university study. In other words, if you attended drama school, you are bound to pursue a career as an actor, a stage director, a theatrologist and so on. Furthermore, there is also the misbelief that graduating from university is the same as 'learning a trade', that 'graduate' equals 'professional'. It is not quite so. For instance, graduating from Philosophy does not make you a philosopher; or again, graduating from Theatrology does not make you a theatre critic. (...) As far as I am concerned, I believe that, in order to graduate from an art-oriented university, you must possess certain skills, and maybe even some work experience in the field. Moreover, you must love what you are doing, you must be fully devoted and passionate, but at the same time, you have to be aware that you may be underpaid. In a nutshell, it takes a lot of work, endurance and perseverance to become a professional but, with a bit of luck, you will pull through”.
