Summary/Abstract: The central role in the fight against terrorism belongs to the United Nations, which by virtue of its universal composition and powers they have under the Charter, contributes to the development of international cooperation assuming the role of coordinating efforts to combat terrorism. Former UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, said: „The UN has a unique position to promote this effort. This provides the necessary framework for building universal coalition and global legitimacy for the long-term anti-terrorism response”.
