THE PROTECTION OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GLOBAL TERRORIST THREAT

Summary/Abstract: General counterterrorist measures have a crucial significance when trying to ensure the safety of public officials. In order for a team of protection officers to be efficient, all the members must have knowledge of enemies they have to confront. It has been observed that there are certain recurring elements that are specific to the majority of terrorist attacks, allowing such incidents to develop according to a pattern and thus making them more predictable. Fighting against extremist, criminal and terrorist actions requires not only great efforts of projective analysis but also a certain degree of risk-taking and the ability to adopt rapid protection measures.
