Summary/Abstract: Shape-generating role of light in architecture has been known since hoary antiquity. This study is about the natural sunlight as a shape-generating factor in architecture, lending expressiveness to front plasticity and uniqueness even in common in terms of their form interiors, changing the scale and proportions, which exalts divisions and highlights rhythm; about light as a symbol and magic, creating meanings and giving life to works by great masters such as Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn, Alvar Aalto, Tadao Ando and Mario Botta. Prominent architects’ profound knowledge of light and their approaches to achieving expressiveness of front plasticity, uniqueness of interiors, desired, illusionary changes in scales and proportions are revealed.
