Summary/Abstract: The term midlife crisis was coined in the mid-1960s. The phenomenon has, of course, existed before being defined, including in arts. By the end of the silent film era, female midlife crisis occurred for the first time ever in Bulgaria in “After the Fire over Russia” (1929). Films in Socialist Era also addressed the phenomenon, mostly in cases of adultery or marriage breakdown. Recently, the issue has been broached in a number of films from “Madame Bovary from Sliven” (1991) to “Love.net” (2011).
