Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the mutual relations of the Mordvin peoples (Erzyas and Mokshas) and the Tatars of the Volgaic region. Those relations are widely mani-fested in the respective languages (in the common vocabulary, in place names, incl. street names, in formal personal names and nicknames) as well as in the folklore and customs.
