Summary/Abstract: Solar power has the potential to provide low carbon electricity and to generate employment. The articles discusses the development of solar power in the UK and summarises debate over feed-in tariffs – financial support policies introduced to stimulate take-up. This article is an abridged translation of ‘Solar Photovoltaics’ report published by the UK Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology, Houses of Parliament (POSTnote No. 398, January 2012).
