Digitizing Museum Collections : experiences of the Museum of Peasant Uprisings

Summary/Abstract: In line with possibility of modern technology, the Museum of Peasant Uprisings has begun to digitize their collections. The first choice was the digitisation of a Collection of Postcards and Photographs. The collection was largely resolved, with the necessary metadata and it seemed most appropriate to begin with. The goal of digitizing the collection was protection, processing and increased. Digitizing the collection was funded under The National Programme of Digitisation of Archival, Library and Museum. The next planned step is the digitisation of The Weapons Collection. Our idea is that this collection is digitized in 3D, which would create an additional value: we would have models for traveling exhibitions, we would allow the blind and visually impaired people explore our collection and provide us with the possibility of different interactive workshops. Of course, this is a project that requires greater resources, and its realization will depend on funding.
