Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the issue of the Center of the World, discussed from the perspective of the orthodox theology of religions, as suggested in its researches. The Center of the World, seen – as Mircea Eliade saw it – as the axis mundi, is related to the main parts of the communion between God and man in Paradise and after Paradise, which enriches the initial meaning of the term with connotations specifi c to the Christian revelation. It is emphasized the fact that this term denotes the relation of the communion between God, man, and world as the symbol of the Sacred Mountain on one hand, whereas, on the other it refers to a process of confi guring this communion in the very core of the relation between face and likeness, as given to man through the act of creation. Four exemplary situations of this process are thus analyzed: the Paradise, Noe, Abraham, and Jesus Christ, concluding that the last one is the only one where the Center of the World fulfi lls itself.
