Summary/Abstract: The relation between man and divinity has emerged in the conscience of all peoples. In this peculiar relation, man always sought to be closer to God, whose place was almost in all cases in heavens; hence, the human tendency to build shrines on high grounds. The Bible shows us that mountains have been important landmarks in the relation between God and His people, be it the people of Israel or Christians. For the one who reads the Bible, two mountains stand out: Sinai and Zion. Mount Sinai, also known as Horeb, is the mountain of human revelation, of the discovery of God by man; it is the mountain of the pledge. On the other side, Zion is the place of God. An important role plays the mountain facing Jerusalem – Eleon Mount or Mount of Olives. Both Mount Zion and Mount of Olives transcend the historical dimension, through their signifi cance in the eschatological times.
