Summary/Abstract: At the very beginning, the article poses the question of whether »Islamic feminism« exists at all and presents the priority tasks and methods by which we usually comprehend the term of »Islamic feminism«. It also points out that in the Islamic world there is an awareness of improving the status of women. This can also be perceived within particular individual impulses of females and males and within the efforts of particular women’s movements mentioned in the text. At the end, the problem of naming along with the disputable content of the term »Islamic feminism« is addressed, namely if it is derived exclusively from religion and if its aim is only to improve the status of these women who are, by their religious conviction, Muslims.
