Summary/Abstract: In biblical studies, one can remark that the Persian Era was neglected until 20 years ago, in the attempt to date biblical literature as early as possible. New studies, however, show that the Persian Era is the most important one when studying the Bible, because this is the time when the fi nal version of the Pentateuch takes shape and when most of the Books in the Hebrew Bible are written. Here are presented social aspects of the post-exile era, the theories about the nature of the religious community in Judaea (Iehud), and also the role of the Temple in Jerusalem. In a broader context, we discuss the theory concerning the imperial authorization of Torah, taking into account epigraphic documents in the Persian Era, and also biblical texts (Ezdr. 7:11-26). We also analyze the hypotheses about the divergences between various Judaic groups in this period, which determined different tendencies in the biblical texts.
