Summary/Abstract: The term global governance appeared at the end of the 1980s, however, the frequency of its use increased almost a decade later.1 The coining of the term and its application by the expert public were connected with the growing awareness of the changes which had occurred in international relations since the end of the World War II . Attempting to prevent another world-wide conflict and driven by the need to solve selected problems at a global scale, countries began to establish different multilateral institutions (the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and others). These institutions provided a platform for collective decision-making on global matters, though they did not form a global government.
