Summary/Abstract: The contemporary social appearences should be studied not only by journalists but also by anthropologists and ethnologists. For this purpose methodological changes are needed. The main demerit of the old methods is the too strong faith in the intuition which usually causes personal attitude and inadequacy. In order to overcome this defect the sociopsychometrical methods should be used. They are based on the processing of data collected by means of the statistic accident method. Every social phenomenon is regulated by certain normative complex which is by nature an expression of the so called public opinion. The sociopsychometrology in fact explains the boundaries of this public opinion. Bulgarian sociolinguists work on these problems more that twenty years. The first researches in the field of sociolinguistics are made in Bulgaria. The main conclusion of them is that sociometrology gives opportunities for revealing certain regularities in such a chaotic at first sight structures as contemporary cities. The experience of Bulgarian sociolinguists may be used in other branches of knowledge connected with the objective laws of the contemporary society. While in the past the patriarchal village gave the countenance of our country nowadays the standard of behaviour is imposed by the city. Exactly there the attention of the present day scholar (using sociopsyhometrical methods) should be concentrated.
