Summary/Abstract: The subject in this study is part of a broader theme in sociology, that is dealing with ethnic relations. Data analysis provided by the concrete research carried out in the Bihor-Hajdú-Bihar euroregion, aimed at measuring the social distance using Bogardus scale, through which we intend to identify the degree of acceptance / social tolerance manifested by the majority ethnic group in relation to minority groups. We submitted for validation the hypothesis that, given the long-term coexistence between the Romanian and Hungarian in the region, attitudes of acceptance and tolerance of minority groups will prevail in both areas. Also, permissive attitudes will be significantly influenced by a high level of education of individuals, by the frequency of social contacts between members of the group and by the area of residence, meaning that in the urban environment - characterized by more pronounced modern attitudes – the degree of tolerance towards minority groups will be higher.
