Summary/Abstract: Holavar and sayaci songs which thought to occur in ancient periods were classified in the labor songs which in Azerbaijan oral folk literature. Although it is seen simpler than bayati and genres in the bard art with aspect of melodic, these genres are very important because of their past ranging to periods which mankind domesticated first animals, carried out first agricultural activities, in short because of primitive roots. It is thought that holavar and sayaci songs occured from exclamation words which based on the mimic of sounds of animals used in agriculture and herd animals and which said the purpose of addressing them. In time, it was added to rhytmic words to these sounds and they transformed into the forms of poetry which said melodic, gathering an esthetic property. In this study, it was discussed the properties of genre of holavar and sayaci songs in terms of the plot, theme, form and etc. and it was analyzed and evaluated views of researchers about the origin of these genres.
