The Space of Ignorance

Summary/Abstract: The author considers the conditions necessary for creating an authentic, free space for artwork and innovative experiments. Commenting on many examples of artists and art theorists (including Kozyra, Rajkowska, Brecht, Artaud and Rancière), she outlines a broad aesthetic-socio-institutional context for artistic work. She demonstrates how difficult it is to build an authentic, living artist/viewer relationship in contemporary art, and how vital an effect of reality is from the position she proclaims.
