Summary/Abstract: The liberation of Yugoslavia in May 1945 meant the end of the war, but not the end of the revolution. The “struggle on the inner front” continued in peacetime, in which Communist Party turned to the complete social transformation and the creation of the “new socialist man”. Particular efforts in this endeavor were expected from the youth. However, the reality of working conditions was remote from the proclaimed goals. Favorite pastime of the youth in the beginning of 50s were movies, dance parties, jazz and easy literature, which served as an escapade from the grim reality. Party officials watched these influences with distrust, and were pointing out to the delinquency, alcoholism and sexual freedom as an outcome of Western decadent influence.
