Summary/Abstract: This study deals with well-known portraits of Master Jan Hus in the Martinická (Martinitz) Bible and in the Litoměřický graduál (Gradual of Leitmeritz) in relation with the accompanying texts. It seems that the illuminations are in fact pictorial explanations of a historical event which use Biblical models in the spirit of typological parallelism.
