Summary/Abstract: Jan Hus’s second life started at the moment of his death, when he became a representative and symbol of Hussite ideas to both his followers and his adversaries. During the centuries that followed the image of this Church reformed had undergone many transformations, received different coats of ideological paint, and was interpreted and misinterpreted to serve various purposes. He was seen as an arch-heretic, Czech patriot, and a model revolutionary. Various ideologies adjusted and transformed his image by emphasising those aspects of his life and thought that suited their own notions.
