Summary/Abstract: Sincerity is the most beautiful form of giving thanks, so I will seek to be sincere. I give confession of what I am. I strive to be as sincere as a man can be. I can only rarely allow myself this direct sincerity, because the other sincerity, mediated, artistic sincerity, which, though cloaked in disguise, is nonetheless the more genuine, has for the most part sufficed. Thus I have hardly had any need for the former.
