The Kyustendil mayors and the urbanization of the town (1878-1899)

Summary/Abstract: The article explores one of the aspects from the new history of Kjustendil, its evolution from typical oriental town-planning in the eve of the liberation till its turning into a town with comparatively modern architectural face in the end of the 19-th century.In the center of the research are the efforts of the eight who ruled the town during this period of 22 years. Their presentation is displayed not only in their close public activity but also it is traced the connection to their origins, education and personal qualities
