Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyze some examples of military terminology and soldier slang found in texts of "Kolendy żołnierskie" and "Szopka żołnierska" — Christmas plays written by Antoni Bogusławski. The usage of these words and expressions is compared to their definitions in dictionaries of Polish general and special vocabulary used in the first half of 20th century. The author tries to show how the texts are encrusted with military vocabulary, describe the expressive character of these lexemes and — where possible — give some clues about their origin.
