Summary/Abstract: This article presents a fragment of broader research, which was conducted for almost 30 years and concerned with education dynamics of Polish villages. The presented article refers to selected forms of cultural activities of chosen rural milieus. Participation in symbolic culture of a rural community was presented in a context of the third system, including the public's most broad circles. This system includes: press, books, radio, TV and cinema. They provide most diversified cultural contents and are factors of equalization of power between rural and urban areas. The empirical materials were collected through quasi-panel method, and the measuring tool was questionnaire of the interview. Among people living in rural areas, the indicators describing TV-watching, radio-listening and press-reading were very high, interest in books-average and in cinema-very low. In some periods of the research, worsening of financial situation of people living in rural areas resulted in lower purchase of press. The price of radio and TV has been stable and in some years it could fully substitute the press.
