Summary/Abstract: Internet connection as the basis for social participation, virtual communities, has been intensively developing in postmodern social structures in the last two decades. The content of their activities depends on technical conditions of virtual communication. One of effective forms of virtual community activities may be social protest against some social objects, as in the practice of all virtual communities in the world. Various forms of internal communication influence mobilization and identity shaping of a virtual community. One of forms may be based on exploitation of visual symbols as an answer to human irrational thinking. Research results presented in the paper show importance of visual symbols as a tool for group identity shaping virtual communities social protest in the Baltic countries.
