Summary/Abstract: University faculty staff skills are analyzed in the context of application of Service learning in Lithuania. The aim of the paper is to explain how professors, lecturers interpret theoretical issues and practical experiences in the process of method adaptation. The aim of the paper is to show differences between the stage of international transferability of the method and the stage of practical application of the adapted method. The most important skill for practical application of Cooperative studies (adapted Service learning method) is critical and reflective thinking. The main method of research on faculty skills was an interview of 20 experts. The research showed that the professors and the lecturers have more interest in adapted methodology than in critical reading of American books on the Service learning method. Most of them preferred seminars, critical discussions and stories on their individual practical experiences in local settings than critical analysis of classical theories of Service learning. The faculty staff had more interest in practical issues, challenges, experiences, possibilities and results than in the methods of transferability. Most of the teachers had interest in the future development of applied Cooperative studies method in Lithuania. Another important skill was cooperation among the students, communities, NGOs and the teachers. Development of problem thinking and problem learning was a third important skill of the teachers that helps to solve practical problems, a less important skill was advocacy. It is interesting because this one is an important skill in Service learning literature in USA.
