Summary/Abstract: The substantial part of this article is devoted to the characteristic of the branches of the Mutual Help Society of the Students of the Jagiellonian University. The most important of these included a tobacco warehouse, an academic bazaar, the Academic Booshop, canteens, and a printing house. In 1924, the Brotherly Help Society became the owner of the tobacco warehouse, which mainly sold tobacco products. The academic bazaar, however, apart from the tobacco products, also sold clothes and accessories. The bazaar functioned as an independent branch since 30th September 1932. The Academic Bookshop of the Brotherly Help was established on 15th August 1946 and was a mercantile branch dealing in stationery and bookselling. The canteens were a trading company that specialised in selling ordinary as well as gourmet foods. They functioned since 1946. On 1st July 1947, the Brotherly Help Society incorporated the medical printing office, which published, inter alia, handbooks for students. This article also presents the history of the development of the Brotherly Help Society, which was the largest self-help student organisation in the Jagiellonian University.
