Summary/Abstract: The article presents the not very well known Bohemian Anton Fiala who acted in Transylvania as painter and photographer in the middle of the 19th century, as one of at least two artists who signed their works with this name in Hungary, the Banat and Transylvania. Before his arrival to Transylvania in 1847, almost nothing is known about his work. The author gives a detailed account on Fiala's, including a chronological list of the known portraits he painted. The contribution contains 23 images.
