Summary/Abstract: The article discusses translations of the German word {Augenblickchen}, which appears in one of the forty sentences comprising George Wenkler’s questionnaire used for data collection in the preparation of the Linguistic Atlas of Germany. The analyzed words were recorded in villages in the Ostróda region, Warmia and Mazuria and they constitute a rich collection of words documented at the end of the 19th century. The equivalents given comprise of standard Polish lexemes, such as {chwila}, {cokolwiek}, {moment}, {trochę} ‘roughly: a moment’. The most frequent forms carry dialectal phonetic features, such as asynchronic pronunciation of palatal labial consonants and palatalized groups {ke}, {ge}. Among the equivalents one can also find formal diminutives, which reflect the translation of the German diminutive suffix -chen. All the recorded words are confirmed in later time dialectal sources.
