Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the legal regime of the special means of surveillance in Bulgaria in the light of art. 8 of ECHR and the relevant case-law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Special attention is paid to the most relevant case - the case of the Association for European integration and human rights and Ekimdzhiev v. Bulgaria (2007). The article comes to the conclusion that in spite of the legislative changes introduced in response to that judgment Bulgarian legislation is not yet in full compliance with the requirements of art. 8 of ECHR.
