Summary/Abstract: The present work analyses the context in which the cultural dialogue between East and West appeared, starting with the Spanish presence in America. We will offer three examples of this dialogue (Historia General de las cosas de Nueva España, La Traduzion de los Dialogos de Amor de Leon Hebreo, and Ollantay) that turned to translation as an instrument. This dialogue resulted from the wish to crossbreed, which shaped the cultural activity of Spain in Spanish America.
