Summary/Abstract: Too many myths, fables and legends, which have ended up distorting the truth, weigh heavily nowadays on the 12th and 13th century translating activity in the Iberian Peninsula. This paper deals with three of those myths: the so-called (and non-existent) Toledo “school of translators” in the 12th century, the same “school” in the following century, and the translators” common, four-handed modus operandi that allegedly prevailed throughout those two hundred years.
